He bought it for 1 milion marks for his son Earl John Baptist (1866-1929) who was married to baron Ema von Saurma von zu der Jeltsch (1869-1946). Earl John Baptist was an honorary knight of the Order of Malta and the captain of the Prussian army IV Grenadier Regiment of the Queen Augusta. They ran West from the Reich, with no hope of return. The noble family with service probably joined this rolling stock. It is not known how many residents remained in the city. Not long afterwards, Soviet troops appeared in the village. They plundered everywhere. All the houses on the main street and Ballestrem palace were set on fire and burned to the ground. After the war, the palace ruins were demolished and today there is no sign of it. Ruined by PGR manors farms remained in its neighborhood. Hostilities   were expected in Lower Silesia and the valuable collections of libraries of Wroclaw was stored in the palace in Cerekwica during World War 2. Everything was burnt irrevocably together with a castle.
